Here's our girl, learning it's fun to slide along on her cast on tile flooring (and hardwood). Crawling forward and backwards, sitting up on her knees, getting close to pulling up to stand. That's the physical part, then there's the verbal. Today she wanted to get my attention while I was reading something, so she said "No, Mama. Please look at Olive."
She's had a very busy weekend hanging out with her great Aunt Judy! She's visiting from OR, left today after a long weekend. She was born to care for kids--Olive had a great time with her (and I got a few naps in!). She's my mom's sister, so it feels close to having my mom playing with Olive. I'd like to think she'd have been involved and love hanging out with her... but there are a lot of other people who have given their time to be with Olive and I am grateful.
So yeah, it was a good weekend. Got to show off my daughter, my town, got to go out for dinner with Ben, catch up with family, let my back heal. Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do with a weekend by myself!

Oh boy...guess I better wash the kitchen floor!! Go Olive!
Kathy, that was my first thought!!Either someone needs to make sure that floor is clean, or else Olive sure is doing a good job of polishing things up!What a super cutie she is with her inventive way of getting around and her running commentary!Gotta love it!
Can't we put her on a swiffer or a mop head and let olive do the floor?
as for the weekend, might i suggest a fancy dinner and a movie night with your sister?????
Oh and I forgot one more thing...Your mom, Bonnie, would certainly have loved hanging out with Olive. And we would have had one more competitor for Olive time. I remember at your wedding shower how your mom brought a bag of coloring books, etc for your nieces. I remember thinking how cool that was with the wedding and all the rest going on and how sweet she was with them. It's a little corny, but I like to think that Bonnie is watching and thinking what a great mom YOU are. FYI, my speech path friends are pretty impressed with the way Olive uses language to solve problems and narrate her movement...I brag about how I see you and Ben modeling the problem solving for her. She may be appearing in a language class or two at Marquette if you send me the video URL...
